Summer Foraging
to
Frank Lloyd Wright Visitor Center, Spring Green 5607 County Road C, Spring Green, Wisconsin 53588
media release: Explore Phoebe Point Trail and learn how to forage with our Kitchen Gardener, Abbie Lehman.
This class will begin by discussing foraging basics at the base of the trail. Then, we will embark on a moderate 1.1 mile loop through Phoebe Point to put our new knowledge to the test, identifying common summer wild edibles along the way.
We will discuss Wright’s connection to the Driftless, and how it inspired a culture at Taliesin of working with and learning within the natural environment.
By the end of this course, you will learn why you should forage, where you can forage, how to forage safely and responsibly, as well as key identification techniques and common plant families.
This event is open to all skill and knowledge levels! We welcome participants of ALL abilities, including those who may not be able to undertake the 1.1 mile hike. Discussion during the first hour will cover all core topics, as well as many of the wild edibles we expect to see along the path.
Please note: Foraging on Phoebe Point Trail, without express permission from the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation, is prohibited. We ask that participants follow our guides' instructions to ensure minimal impact on the environment.
